The American Dream - 758 Words

The American Dream is the idea of the United States having an endless opportunity for anyone, regardless of their past, race, beliefs, and their economic life now. In the novel Of Mice and Men written by John Steinbeck, each character was driven to something that they enjoyed or wanted; something they had to work hard for and strive to have it. In the book, many of these objectives were connected to achieve The American Dream. Lennie and Georges American Dream is to pursue their ideal life by owning their own ranch, Candy’s dream is to help Lennie and George buy their ranch and become apart of their little group, and Curley’s wife was dedicated to become an actress and live the â€Å"big life† in Hollywood. In conclusion, Lennie and George†¦show more content†¦Candy knows how difficult this will be, especially not bringing it up to the boss. Is the boss finds out, they will all be removed from the farm and have no place to go. In conclusion, Candyâ€℠¢s American Dream is to help Lennie and George earn money and help them achieve their goal in owning a ranch. The American Dream is the ability of an American to proceed their ideas and thoughts through hard work, even when you do not have a connection to it. In Of Mice and Men, Curley’s Wife had an American Dream of her own. In the book, Curley’s Wife says she wishes she was out in Hollywood, singing, dancing, and making a ton of money. She says to Lennie, â€Å"Coulda been in the movies, an’ had nice clothes-all them nice clothes like they wear† (Steinbeck 89). Although Curley’s Wife never had any connection to Hollywood, she still has the dream of being an actress and not stuck here at some ranch. Her dream started when she was younger and he has had the same dream since now. To sum up, Curley’s wife has dreamt of being an actress ever since she was a kid. In conclusion, Lennie and George want to live their life on a ranch, Candy wants to pursue Lennie and George’s life with them, and Curley’s wife wants to become famous in Hollywood; these are their American Dream’s.
